PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS FROM RECRUITERS

Highly professional behavior expected being a very formal market:

• Request for tentative time slots (per the local time zone)
• Zoom, Google Hangouts, Skype can be used to set up the call
• Do not start with a Call / WhatsApp / LinkedIn message to a candidate, it is considered to be an invasion of privacy
• It is illegal to ask the candidate for personal details such as Age, Gender, Martial status, Sexual orientation, Religion
• Candidates expect recruiters to be well-versed on all details about the employer and role before being approached

UNDERSTANDING SALARIES IN THE US

• The US is a very large country and has 52 states.
• State tax differs from one state to another.
• The cost of living varies from one state to another
• For example a person earning $65000 in Atlanta, Georgia is equal to $90000 in Stamford, CT.
• It is illegal to ask the candidate for personal details such as Age, Gender, Martial status, Sexual orientation, Religion
• These websites can help you understand and compare salaries - Bureau Of Labor Statistics, Salary Expert, Salary.com, Payscale, Glassdoor, SalaryList, Indeed.
• These websites can help you understand what cost of living in the USA is like : Justland, Numbeo.

COMMUNICATING WITH AN AMERICAN

Americans have their personal and professional life clearly demarcated. It is considered rude to call someone on a weekend. Work related calls can be scheduled only if the candidate has agreed to it.
